The University of Calabria (UNICAL) started its didactic andscientific activities in the academic year 1972-1973 and today the Universityhas about 25,000 students. Teaching staff consists of about 1000 units,including full professors, associate professors, assistants and researchers;technical and administrative staff consists of about 700 permanent units. TheUniversity of Calabria is a public Higher Education Institution with legalentity and, therefore, is authorized to award university qualifications that havelegal validity. A wide choice of Degree Courses are offered in fourteenDepartments that are the central coordination structures of all the academicactivities to be developed by the University in respect of the variousdisciplinary areas: Humanities, Arts, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics,Physics, Natural Sciences, Pharmacy and Political Sciences. UNICAL contributes in kind as a linked third party to CNIT activities.
